Light On Dark Water

Political pundits have been buzzing for a couple of days now about whether Mrs. Clinton's teary-eyed-on-TV moment was genuine or fake, and whether it would/did help or hurt her in the New Hampshire primary. As to the first question: I don't care. As to the second question: if it made any difference one way or another, American democracy is actually in as much trouble as I thought.
