As many of you already know, my daughter after having had two miscarriages is now pregnant with a little girl who will be born in early October.
The baby, Abigail, has a condition called Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia, which means that there is a hole in her diaphragm and currently her stomach, spleen, and parts of her large and small intestines are in her thoracic cavity. Remarkably, this can be fixed, but the problem is that it keeps her lungs from developing properly. So, she will have to have surgery as soon as she is born and it will be a long time before she leaves the hospital. This is the best case scenario.
Anyway, the reason I am writing this, aside from asking for your prayers, is that I don't think that I can keep up with the Saints very much longer. The only way I can do it is if someone helps, or if people volunteer for a lot of definite dates. I just won't have time, and frankly, I'm running out of the mental wherewithal to keep up with things.
I am working on something for this week, but after that, I don't know.
With regard to the prayers, week before last, the Saints post was about
Ven. Andrey Sheptytsky, and a very sick little girl, Martha Charron, whose parents were praying for his intercession in her regard. A few days later, Martha went home from the hospital. Bill and I have been praying for his intercession for Abigail.

What a difficult time for all of you. I hope and pray everything's okay in the end.
About the 52 saints. During his pontificate, Pope Benedict dedicated many of his general audiences to saints; a list and links provided here. Perhaps you can select from them for the series if you fall short?

I'll commit to doing one a month for the remainder of this year.

Thank you Marianne and Maclin.
Marianne, thanks for the suggestion, but it wouldn't really be what we set out to do, and if it's not, then why continue. I'm thinking now we might make it anyway.

Prayers for your daughter, baby, you, and rest of the family, Janet.
I'm sorry I cannot commit to more saints for you. I similarly cannot commit to more movies for Mac. Having my own small life uncertainties and crises lately from which I am sure I will later be better, stronger, and hopefully more faithful.

I should probably be committed, but I cannot commit myself. :)
Posted by: Stu | 09/06/2016 at 11:54 AM
Sorry to hear that you are having crises, Stu. I will keep you in my prayers, and thanks for yours.

People have made some commitments elsewhere, so I think we'll be okay.
Thanks,

Yes, with fewer than 20 weeks to go, I think the movies at least will get by. I'm sorry to hear of crises.

Janet, you have my prayers for Abigail. I'll send another contribution to you within a week.

Craig sent me Nicholas Owens for Sunday, and if Grumpy is slated to do Joseph of Cupertino for the next week. Are you going to be up for that, Grumpy.
Several people have volunteered posts, so I think we are set.
Thanks very much for that and especially for your prayers. Becca has an appointment with the hospital in Louisville Monday, so maybe we will find out a bit more.

Many of you have seen my posts on Facebook, but for those who haven't, my granddaughter Abigail was born on Friday and is doing well considering her condition. If she is still stable on Monday, they will do corrective surgery, so please keep her in your prayers.
We didn't think that we would be able to see pictures of her, but we have and she is beautiful, and I'm not just saying that because I'm her grandmother. I have other grandchildren that were rather mongrelish-looking when they were born. ;-)
It's hard to look at her and think anything is wrong.
Thanks for your prayers.

We will keep praying,

I had promised one for this month, so I'll go ahead and commit to this weekend (the 15th). Started to say the 22nd but I would probably not actually spend any more time on it, just start later. :-/

We saw Abigail twice yesterday and she seems to be doing very well. We could do everything except pick her up. We were very surprised to be able to see her so soon because originally they were told that it would be two weeks before even the parents could see her. The word that everyone at the hospital uses to describe her is feisty, and I think that is a very good thing. CDH babies seem to have frequent chromosomal abnormalities--maybe the abnormalities cause the CDH???--but, thank the Lord, she has none. She has a long way to go, but as my daughter says, we are cautiously optimistic. Please keep us in your prayers.
