Email notifications of new posts are provided by the follow.it service. When you subscribe, a confirmation email will be sent to the address you provided. You'll need to open that email and click on the confirmation link for the subscription to begin. If this is the first time you've used that address with follow.it, an account will be created for it. The password will be included in the confirmation email. You can then use that address and password to log in to follow.it and manage this and any other subscriptions you have there, including cancelling the subscription. 

By default the subscription is set to send one email per day containing the feeds for all "stories" posted that day at that source.  You can also set it to send one email per story. Either of these works fine for this blog, since I typically only post two or three times a week. However, the one-per-story setting is likely to send the notification more quickly, since it isn't waiting for the end of a 24-hour period.
